New Fellowship-Trained Spine Surgeon Joins Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center

Fellowship-trained spine surgeon Christian Gaffney, MD, MSc, has joined Black Hills Orthopedic & Spine Center in Rapid City at 7220 Mount Rushmore Road and in Gillette, Wyoming, at 2201 South Douglas Hwy., Suite 120. As a fellowship-trained spine surgeon, Dr. Gaffney has extensive experience in treating spine conditions in adults, adolescents and children. In his practice, Dr. Gaffney pursues nonsurgical methods whenever possible to ease pain and improve function for patients affected by spine disorders. When surgery is needed, he strives to perform minimally invasive, motion-preserving procedures so his patients can achieve the best possible results and enjoy the fastest recovery.

After graduating from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Gaffney went to Salt Lake City, to complete The University of Utah’s orthopedic surgery residency program. He subsequently completed a spine surgery fellowship, with an additional year of intensive surgical training, at the Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis. The Twin Cities Spine Center holds one of the most historic and highly selective fellowships in the world. It is a renowned institution for education, research and spinal treatment. Dr. Gaffney also holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
